I have always loved writing, and this blog is the vehicle for me to indulge in that passion and share stories of one of my other passions- travelling. I graduated from my Bachelors degree a few years ago now, and have spent those years meandering around the world collecting stories and shells and tan lines. I worked as a Kite Surfing instructor, which meant I lived beach to beach, barefoot and salty-haired. I left the world of academia behind and embraced a more bohemian existence, observing sunsets rather than lectures, counting stars instead of words.

All that changed with my return to higher education- I washed my hair, found some shoes, and settled back into city life- in Moscow, Russia. While I had previously travelled and studied in Russia on two different occasions, nothing could have prepared me for living there, and living as close to a Russian life as possible. Many factors influenced my experience of life in the Russian capital, but as the winter rolled on (and on, and on) I came to the hard realisation that I was harbouring quite a deep depression and something needed to change stat. And it did- my parents came to visit, I went hiking by Lake Baikal (I challenge anyone not to feel a deep peace while doing so), and ultimately I made my way to China for some intense kung fu training (which I loved and highly recommend!)

I spent a long hot summer at home in Australia with my parents, saving money and cooking my way through my mother's pantry. Now I'm ready to get back on the road-thanks for joining me for the ride!
